Personal, preventive care with Dr. Tara Sullivan

Dr. Tara Sullivan, DDS, has been practicing dentistry for 18 years, but her journey started long before that. Growing up in a small town in Montana, she developed an early fascination with teeth after fracturing a front tooth as a child. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for restoring smiles and helping others enjoy the confidence and comfort that come with healthy teeth.

Dr. Sullivan earned her BS in Biology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, before going on to complete her DDS at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, NE. Her education and years of experience have shaped a philosophy centered on conservative, patient-first treatment. While practicing restorative and cosmetic dentistry, she has a particular love for helping patients preserve and protect their natural smiles for the long haul

What sets Dr. Sullivan apart is her gentle, honest approach and commitment to high-quality care without upselling or overtreatment. She gets to know each patient on a personal level, prioritizing their values and goals when recommending treatments. Her one-provider model allows her to maintain continuity of care, so patients always know who they’ll be seeing when they walk through the door.

Outside the office, Dr. Sullivan enjoys skiing, camping, hiking, and cooking. She loves spending time with her husband and three children, and brings that same warmth and care to every patient relationship.

With more than 20 years in dentistry, LaJohnny brings a wealth of experience and a personal touch to her role as Office Manager at The Dental Shoppe. Known for her welcoming smile and ability to make patients feel at ease, she loves building lasting relationships and making sure everyone leaves the office confident in their care. When she’s not keeping things running seamlessly, you can find her spending time with family, planning creative projects, or enjoying life’s simple joys.

A Seattle native, Kelly has been a dedicated dental hygienist at The Dental Shoppe since 2014. Her dental career started in 2010 as a dental assistant.  After deciding the dental field was for her, she studied at Seattle Central College and graduated from the Dental Hygiene Program. Her approach to patient care is centered around each individual’s needs and comfort level— treating every patient with the same compassion and attention she would offer her own family and friends. She deeply values the long-term relationships she’s built over the years and finds great fulfillment in witnessing her patients’ growth—both in their oral health and their personal lives.

Outside the office, Kelly is a big foodie who enjoys traveling the world with her husband. She also has a passion for film making and is a local Seattle wedding videographer.

Katelyn

Dental Hygienist

Katelyn is originally from Southern Maine and has spent time living in Boston, MA and Madison, WI. She has lived in Washington for the last two years. As a new-ish PNW girl, she loves exploring the city, hiking, and going on road trips. Katelyn received her Associates of Dental Hygiene in 2019. She then completed her Bachelor Degree in Dental Hygiene and her Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration. She previously worked as a traveling dental hygienist and has now clocked hours in over 80 clinics throughout the United States. Katelyn loves working with the Dental Shoppe team to provide the best dental experience for her patients.

Originally from Guam, Isabel moved to Washington via the Philippines. She has worked as a dental assistant since 2017 and strives to provide a smooth and comfortable experience for patients. Her calm, efficient demeanor puts patients at ease. Outside of dentistry, she likes to spend time with family and friends exploring the city and checking out the latest matcha cafes and eateries. She’s also not opposed to staying home and watching a good movie or series.

Born and raised in Seattle, Colleen has been a dedicated dental assistant for over 15 years. Having worked in both the clinical and business sides of dentistry, Colleen provides a wealth of knowledge. She takes great pride in providing the highest quality of patient care and ensuring every visit is a positive experience. Colleen’s specialty is to put patients at ease with her easy friendly conversation. Residing in Beacon Hill, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband and family.

Patient Experience

From the moment you check in with our digital iPads to the comfort of our massage chairs during your appointment, every detail is designed to help you relax and feel confident in your care. We make sure you leave feeling heard, cared for, and empowered to maintain your oral health with clarity and ease.

For a smooth first visit, please bring:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Dental insurance card or policy information (if applicable)
  • List of any current medications
  • Submit new patient paperwork online

Though we aren’t currently partnered with any formal community organizations, Dr. Sullivan and the Dental Shoppe team occasionally volunteer at free dental clinics in downtown Seattle. It’s a small way we can continue to care for our community beyond our office walls—and we’re always open to doing more in the future.
